Dear Residents, Families, Friends, and Professionals,
Welcome to our June 2026 Newsletter.
Firstly, I would like to thank all of our residents, relatives, friends, and healthcare professionals for your continued support and trust. Your kindness and encouragement mean a great deal to our entire team.
Managing the Summer Heat
June brought one of the biggest challenges of the year, with extremely high temperatures and heatwave warnings across the UK. The hot weather affected everyone, particularly older people and those with complex health needs.
I am pleased to share that, thanks to the dedication of our staff and the cooperation of our residents and families, we managed this challenging period successfully. Most importantly, all of our residents remained safe, comfortable, and well cared for.
Throughout the heatwave we introduced several additional measures, including:
- Ensuring residents remained well hydrated throughout the day.
- Offering a wider variety of drinks, including fresh fruit juices, cold refreshments, fizzy drinks, flavoured water, milkshakes, and ice creams.
- Encouraging residents to spend more time in the cooler communal areas downstairs.
- Monitoring residents closely for any signs of dehydration or heat-related illness.
- Supporting staff by allowing lightweight white T-shirts to be worn instead of the standard uniform to help them remain comfortable while continuing to provide excellent care.
We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation during this exceptionally warm period.
Staff Update
This month we said goodbye to our wonderful Activity Coordinator, Nadya.
We would like to thank Nadya for all of her hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication to enriching the lives of our residents. We wish her every success and happiness in the future.
We are also delighted to welcome our new Activity Coordinator Maisha to the Fourways family. A smooth handover has taken place, and we look forward to introducing many new and exciting activities in the coming months.
Home & Garden Improvements
Our improvement programme continues throughout the home.
This month we have:
- Continued work to improve our outdoor areas.
- Trimmed and maintained the plants surrounding the main reception.
- Enhanced the appearance of the entrance to create an even more welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
We will continue investing in our home to ensure Fourways remains a pleasant, safe, and enjoyable place to live.
Afternoon Tea Party – Coming Soon!
We are looking forward to hosting another Fourways Afternoon Tea Party for residents, families, friends, and healthcare professionals.
Due to the recent hot weather, we have decided to wait until temperatures become a little more comfortable before confirming a date.
Invitations will be sent out as soon as the date and time have been finalised. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us for an enjoyable afternoon together.
Looking Ahead
As always, our commitment remains the same—to provide compassionate, person-centred care while making every resident feel safe, respected, and truly at home.
We will continue working hard every day to improve the lives of our residents and ensure they receive the comfort, dignity, and quality of care they deserve.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all our residents, relatives, friends, healthcare professionals, and our incredible staff team.
Your ongoing support, kindness, and confidence in Fourways Residential Care Home are greatly appreciated. Together, we continue to create a warm, caring, and supportive home for all those who live here.
We look forward to sharing more exciting news with you next month.
With best wishes,
